Launching

I have decided to Launch a blog as I launch my career as a new nurse.

I have just graduated from Nursing School from a large state university. I graduated with honors, which I worked very hard for and am very proud of.

I interviewed with several hospitals and accepted a position in Labor & Delivery. I plan on working in L&D for at least 2 years, obtaining experience. At the same time I am working towards my bachelor's degree with my final goal being a master's in midwifery to become a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM).

I chose to name this blog, "Open Doorways" because the idea of a door closing and another one opening is exactly how my life has lead me to midwifery.

I began working as a doula, then a childbirth educator. It was like a slippery slope. The more I got involved in birth work, the more I wanted to be involved more! So, I decided to go back to school and start my education towards becoming a midwife.

So far, it has been incredibly hard work with even more incredible rewards! I am enjoying every step of the way.

I look forward to sharing my thoughts and experiences here on this blog with whomever may happen by.
